Nihongo Tesuto wa kantan desu!

Just came back from dinner... nice thai food, with succulent prawns and tasty mango salad. yummy! there was mango sticky rice, tapioca, morning glory, tom yam soup, fried toufu, chicken wing, crab with vermicelli as well. nice nice nice! just typing about it makes me salivate all over again. somehow just have this affinity for sourish food, and thai food with the clash of sweet, sour and salty flavours is just puuurrrrfect! before that, had oral and written jap test. quite easy i must say. didn't have to worry about it afterall. am signing up for the next level of jap class beginning 27 may. yeps i'll be going alone for these classes cos hao-e doesn't want to come along. it's a pity that we don't do anything together. we're just too different i guess. and he always has other more important commitments. suckie. will be going through my monthly ritual of reading cosmo uk for a dose of nonsense writing and dry humour. and trying to read up on taipei to prepare for

It's the Long Weekend

Friday - kinyoobi - again!! Yay! am looking forward to the long weekend. hehe... going tonight to sushi tei for dinner with colleagues and then drinking after. should be quite a blast. will blog abt it soon.. nihongo test tomorrow so need to study a bit. and give chewy a crash course on heeling and sitting. haven't been revising with her much this week because of flu. and aunt's birthday dinner after that in bt merah. must rem to bring her gift.

Am nursing a cold

Drowned myself with some panadol cold today. quite effective i must say, least it stopped the runny nose. but body still aching and lethargic. uncomfortable. need to rest my heavy head on some support... very difficult to hold up... we'd "adopted" an engaged couple on sunday. they are richard & jean. (is there another reason why its always the guy's name in front of the girl's other than plain chauvinism?) don't know them personally, but they'll be in our prayers... Chris called me last sunday for a favour. thought he wanted us back as "slaves"! haha... hope they enjoy the MPC course as much we did. Trying to secure a copy of the catholic news. hao-e is on it cos fr yim dumped a whole bowl of water on his head. can't wait to see the picture. hope alice can locate a copy...

Wonderful Weekend

KINYOOBI Went Uberberger on Fri evening. Food: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5 Coolness: 4.5/5 Airconditioning: 0/5 Service Staff: 2.5/5 They placed us on this elevated platform which the air vents obviously couldn't serve so it was quite stuffy. But they had cool toilets, with flying golden pigs (water tap) and green frogs (soap dispenser). took some photos on them on my fone if anyone's interested. After that went croaking at kbox marina. gosh felt so old cos didn't know all the new trendy songs. Got home at 1am. DOYOOBI Woke up on sat with a headache and runny nose. durian overdose cos couldn't be bothered to buy breakfast. gosh. so no hope that i'll get well soon. Went to wonderful jap class. "Watashi wa Stella desu. Kyonen nijuugosai desu. Shingapooru-jin desu. Ima wa uchi de burogingu-shite imasu. Doozoo yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" Translation: "I'm Stella, 25 this year, Singaporean, blogging at home. Pleased to meet you!" Assessment te

just sharing some pictures from last saturday's easter vigil mass at ctk... My dear and his godpa Darren (doesn't he look a bit drunk in the picture?) Our new godparents, darren and karen. (they rhyme! haha!) gal pals joanne (the goofy one), jasmine (the sweet one) and alice (the sporty one) . my godma and i close up. don't worry, she's older than me, though many were skeptical... shite

Happy Easter!

Yay! woke up today feeling a little bit different from yesterday. then i remembered, we got baptised last night!! haha!! long long mass again. and there were so many ppl there! mum, alice, joanne, jasmine, sai and janice! and of cos sis, godma karen and godpa darren! went off to serangoon gdn after for a munch and didn't get home till 1am. tiring but interesting night. got so many presents too, from godma and sponsors and colleagues, loved the dvd most. so farnie.

Good Friday

It's a three-day long weekend. yay!! went to church in the afternoon and spent 2 hours standing and reading and kneeling and standing again. it was the way of the cross, or stations of the cross. 14 stations in total so the stand-kneel-stand thing went on 14 times. then it was the gospel reading according to st john which took all of 38 ppt slides. so we stood for 38 slides. then there were the general intercessions that lasted all of 20 slides which we had to stand and kneel again. so knees got pretty bruised after the ordeal. part of trying to get us to feel the passion and suffering of christ i think. pope, it's definitely working. for homily father told his story, how he left church to join the anti-vietnam war movement (he's from vietnam), but was passing by a catholic church on a good friday, and he heard them sing "were you there when they crucified Him?" and he returned to church and entered the seminary. that's the gist of it. oh and he men

Date's set

Went to ndc this afternoon. saw a dentist pretty quickly which was surprising. they had cubicles these dentists, no proper rooms just 1 m tall partitions so you could stand and stare at the person lying on the next chair with his jaw crack open. so unglam! anyways, dentist tried to dissuade me from having all 4 teeth out at one go, saying there's a risk i won't wake up!! (1 in 10k - 20k chance) he had to remind me too that my lower jaw could be permanently numb after the operation since my lower teeth are really close to my nerves. (1 in 100 chance apparently) what does that feel like? stoopid question, cos if my jaw is numb i won't be able to feel a thing. so the date is set. 16 jun 10am i'll be wheeled in for a day surgery. hopefully i'll wake up and feel a lot of pain in my lower jaw then i'm sure i'm not that 1 in 10k or something. _______________________________ Listening to SHE's re dai yu ling (rainforest in mandarin btw). realised i mis

I'm down with flu

am at home today, trying to recover quickly from this flu that's causing this ache in my back. shite. supposed to try this new class called Step Blitz last evening, but i just couldn't make it... doc gave some sleep-inducing medicine, which made me so drowsy i fell asleep at 9pm and missed desperate housewives. sigh. about the weekend, spent sunday with hao-e at sim lim. couldn't understand a word of the gibberish they were spouting there. what gigs and rams and bytes etc. the first i thought was a performance, the second an animal and the last would be the things mosquites do to humans. went hunting around level 4 for a flat LCD screen. walked to and fro 3 locations before he was finally happy with his purchase. poor other salesman, he looked a bit worn out after that. so now we are going to have 2 PCs at home, so that poor me can surf the net when i feel like it. (don't need to pester him to get off the chair for once...) today's the day of the dental a

Went for a Workout

had a half day off, lazed ard a bit at home, and decided to try on my ROM dress. Sigh... it's official. i'm fat. fats were oozing out of the dress. i'd managed to zip it up (with a lot of difficulty) but the zip looked like it was going to burst. sigh... decided not to mope ard the house anymore but do something constructive to curtail the darn prob. made a few calls, and decided to troop down to park mall's amore fitness. i'm one of their super old members from the "bt timah days" as the receptionist laughingly said. haha. yeah i was surprised they kept my records. or else i'd have to pay an addl $30+ for registration! had a funny teacher who kept wincing in pain as she led us in the painful, torturous workout. sigh. i def hv no muscles to speak of. so tired they are now.... aching... i need to rest them before i troop down next week to the simei branch. that's way nearer to home. bought some outfits for my next workout so that i

i was told today....

i was told today that my fren is contemplating leaving the co. i say, "do what's best for yourself!" my mentor once told me to never lose your belief in your own abilities. always have faith in yourself and never lose that faith. i've been put down before, many times. the feeling's not good. you start off work thinking about all the things you want to achieve, but continual criticisms, esp non-constructive ones that make you out to be worthless, can make you lose heart in your dreams, and batter your self-confidence. don't lose heart girl! your abilities and talents may be better recognised elsewhere! this new job of mine, (i still consider it new, but it's been like 9 mths now) is not bad-bad, not great either. but i'd promised myself i will do my best here and i hope to God i keep that promise.

Bad Dog

Chewy has been a bad bad dog. hao-e let her stay in the kitchen today, i.e. outside her cage for a full 12 hrs. when i got home, situation was bad. toilet brush was strewn on the floor, bits and pieces of my kitchen cabinet were all over the place. she has wrecked my bottom drawer to bits. and peed all over too. she is a very bad dog. i dumped her into cage, and didn't talk to her. v disappointed in her behaviour. totally don't understand why she needs to chew on the cupboards when she has chew bones etc. we've been too nice to her. she stays in the cage till she outgrows this chewing phase. if not, she stays inside forever. hmmph! i'm not cleaning up after her tonight. hao-e will do it. am v angry.

Fun-filled Weekend

Saturday - started relatively slowly, lazed around in bed, reading a novel. went for jap class and nearly snoozed through it... very stuffy classroom. then went to fren's house for party... food's good, company's great. heh.. ck is a very lucky man. there was baked chicken, baked prawns with cheese, pasta, bak kut teh, chawanmushi! gosh, she can really cook! had wine with tiramisu too!! har har!! sunday - went to church, "cooked" lunch (involved cutting radish and dumping things into pot) then fell asleep reading this book. not v interesting apparently. woke up with a nagging headache and had to tramp down to airport for duty. it's particularly crowded on weekends. and there're loads of ppl crowding the stores. quite interesting.

Surgery Successful!

yesterday was d-day. chewy was brought to the vets for her spaying surgery. realised that the vet was the same one at the bedok south vet clinic. even the receptionist is the same. so odd. wonder do they rotate around the different clinics, or did they both join mt pleasant animal clinic together. i shall call the bedok vets to for dr audrey loi and see if she's there. so weird seeing them both again. dr loi even asked us, whether chewy was on heartworm prevention. if i didn't rem wrongly she was the vet that prescribed the heartworm tablet the other time... haha it was raining cats and dogs and rats and hamsters and horses and rhinos last evening. had a very hard time trying to get a cab back from the vet's. 2 rejected me because of chewy (too bad for them, this goes into their books and they'll have to answer for it). the last one reluctantly let us in, guessing that our dog wasn't too well... she was very sedated, didn't move much because of she
