We're stuck at home all weekend. Why? Because Hurricane Igor is coming to visit us tonight till Monday evening. It is such a huge storm that its effects are expected for a full 40 hours. Left the office at 3pm yesterday and charged to Lindo's to get more emergency supplies. Loaded the cart with canned soup, fish, biscuits, soy milk, jam, bread, bananas, apples, grapes, essentially enough food to last us 4-5 days. For those who are used to typhoons, a hurricane is just a larger sized storm so it takes longer to pass. you get constant gale force gusts for a longer period of time. so the damage is likely to be more severe. of course hurricanes can bring its share of spin-off tornadoes too which adds to the damage. so we got a cover for our car Charlie to protect it from flying sand/salt that can scratch the paint. good thing is, our apartment is closer to the north shore (the hurricane is coming from the south) and on elevated ground, so no storm surge worry. The eye of
