Freakish - we are having sunny and rainy weather at the same time! i looked out of the window, thinking that hey, the weatherman's wrong again - sunny periods with scattered showers, my foot, there was the sun and nice blue sea... on closer inspection, the window was being splattered with rain! all hail weatherman! your prediction has come true. i shall never doubt you again.
Everytime i think the weather has eased up, it just gets worse. we've hit another bout of bad weather. showers, gale-like winds, you name it. this place just never ceases to amaze me. it's supposed to be another bad week, so i'm preppng myself with boots pants and the brollie tomorrow. i think i might even be missing the hot scorching sun back home. In any case, this has been a DVD weekend. We watched Elizabeth:The Golden Age and Rush Hour 3 on Friday, followed by The Heartbreak Kid and As You Like It yesterday. RH3 was as usual - chock-full of Jackie's usual kungfu madness. Heartbreak Kid was really quite entertaining. Elizabeth was serious yet totally thoughtful. As You Like It - i fell asleep halfway and decided to call mum instead. yeps, i've listed them according to how much i enjoyed those shows. Friday night, we were at Cafe Cairo with K's bunch of friends. The food was really good, we had the hummus, red pepper hummus, baba ganoush, tabouleh,
okay, i wasn't quite right in my last post. Heath Ledger died in his own apartment - not Mary-Kate's - and he was 28 years of age - not 26. ___________________________________ this week, i've discovered mould in our closet. as in, i found mould on some of our clothes and the luggage bags stored in the closet. eeks. did some auditing of our wares, pulled out clothes dotted with those wretched white spots to the wash, wiped the luggage bags we were going to use and threw away hao-e's mouldy shoes. Then, i scampered off to the hardware store to buy meself some Damp-Rid kits to hang in the closet. i sure hope those things work, cos they are such a cheapo alternative to the electrical dehumidifier which costs at least $200. i don't want no spots on my clothes ever again! _____________________________________ i've tried keeping to my tiring, back-breaking, ab-crunching, kick-boxing gym schedule. so far, i've been there sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday and yester

Shocking News

it's funny the amount of information you can receive from a large but muted plasma tv hanging on the wall in front of the treadmills. for several days last week, Britney hogged the US news. one, she held her boys hostage while threatening to kill herself. After which, she turned up at the courthouse hours late for her custody battle. Then she decided she's not only called "Brit"-ney, she IS a Brit and started putting on a Brit accent. Following that, she denied she ever dated her ex-boyfriend. Boy, this girl is in a whole lot of trouble. At the rate she's spiraling out of control, i think the she'll either spin her way onto the moon or end up in an institution. Today's shocking headline: Heath Ledger has died. While huffing and puffing away with my knees half buckling, i realised a half of the famed brokeback couple has passed away. he was found dead in mary-kate olsen's apartment in soho with sleeping pills by his side. suspected suicide atte
Hi darlings. countdown: 12+ days i slept at 10pm last evening. wasn't feeling well. think the weather has been getting to me. just felt cold. i've underestimated the weather here. it's quite cold today too. anyway, i woke up this morning with a wide smile. funny dream. dreamt that hao-e and i were back in school, except this time the school/college was in australia. there were koalas climbing everywhere! haha. the college grounds bordered a river. and there was a party to welcome new students like us. we were pushed into the river and had so much fun! funny dream don't you think? perhaps i just liked school too much. perhaps i was just too full of sleep i dreamt funny. haha. ah well. at least it was a happy dream.
bloody pissed off. lost another earring. 3rd one so far. the butterfly one from bangkok. i'm just gonna stick to studs now for the time being. i can cry.
It's mid-week. Which means it's kick-boxing class this evening. Ooh, tremble.... More wobbly knees and overworked arms and back. More tremble. The weather has been unpredictable. It was supposed to be raining yesterday, it didn't. The winds howled though. and i think it probably rained a little near midnight, when i was half conscious. Today it's supposed to be showers with gale-force winds. Just one shower so far, super cloudy and rain seems imminent. hope it doesn't rain later after work. don't want to walk to the gym in the rain even though i have an umbrella. *fingers crossed* Since joining the gym last tuesday, i've gone 6 times to attend various classes and walk on the treadmill. still cannot bring myself to run on the darn thing. legs refuse to move faster than 4.2 km/hr, which doesn't make sense to jog, so slow. ah well. i've just started this regime. i'm going to keep it up.

In 17 days

In 17 days, we'll be catching an early morning flight to new york, beginning our long journey home to Singapore. first is a 2-hour flight to new york's JFK airport, followed by a 10-hour wait in the airport for the SQ flight to Singapore via Frankfurt. Been thinking of activites for that 10-hour wait. shall we take a cab downtown and walk along the streets just for the heck of it and for some decent lunch at the korean restaurant at 32nd? or shall we cab to the duty-free outlet shopping centre near newark airport for a shot at last minute outlet shopping? it's a feat trying to convince the mister to cab out of the airport. first he says, the cab fare is crazy - $45 one-way. what's more, the wait between flights maybe shortened because of delays. and shopping? "you're going back to singapore, why do you need to shop BEFORE going back? Go back to shop lah!" he says. Makes sense somewhat, but he just doesn't get it that there are certain things/brands un
i've lost another soddin earring. this time is the white pearl pair from chomel at t2. this is the 2nd pair and both pairs rank pretty high up in my list of accessories. blimey! serious stocking up situation anticipated when i return to singapore. far east/raffles place push-carts here i come!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY!

today, my mother celebrates her 6-th birthday! (should i even be mentioning her blinkin age?!?) i tried to get up early to call her this morning, but of course i overslept. no surprises. but i still managed a very short 1-minute conversation with hao-e and me hurriedly shouting a "happy birthday" at a very bewildered laptop and mum of course, followed by an immediate "got to run sorry". yikes, me tis not good girl... sorry mummy. so here's my birthday song sung to the usual tune of course. *in broken voice* HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MUMMY JOSEPHINE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! wishing you the best of health and happiness.
i finally joined the gym. there was an initiation fee of USD150 and a monthly membership of USD110. as i had already missed the first 7 days of January, they gave me a pro-rated fee of USD95 for January 2008. (still feels weird writing and typing "2008"... it's the beginning of the year syndrome. i remember feeling even weirder when the year 2000 started... that was what, 8 bloody years ago?! yikes!) well, the money has been spent. (i spend my money, i might add. keke.) so i have to go use the gym regularly to make it worthwhile. no more excuses. i started with hi/lo class last evening. nearly died as it's been almost 10 months since i'd gone to an aerobics class, and a long long time since i'd moved any of my limbs. (other than my fingers scrolling the mouse and double-clinking on the weblinks.) was hyperventilating near the end and had to step outside the room to catch my breath. aiyoh... me tis very old. now my calves are still achey though the res
I finally have some internet access during the day! yay! i was so down yesterday when i couldn't blog, email or read online news at all... so tortured. i still can't read my email, but hey, at least i can blog right? what's worse for yesterday was the rain. i'm used to walking in the rain. that's what london trains you for. i'm ok with rain beating down on my hood, coats, bags, etc getting wet. no problem. but at least let me walk on nice wide pavements and pathways. why this sudden mention of rain? it rains pretty often here but i'm usually ok cos i have the car. BUT i'd attempted to take the bus home last evening. golly, by the time i got to the bus-stop, it was drizzling. the bus-stop didn't offer shelter cos the winds were blowing the rain sideways. so i was 30% wet waiting under a sheltered bus-stop that didn't offer any cover. i got up the bus after a 15-min wait, and was disgusted when the rain started to get heavy. got off th

Marriage

I'm alone at home today. Hao-e had to go to the office. Not that it's a bad thing, cos i do like some alone time, especially with a good book and the tele. haha.. more of the tele and less of the good book i guess. haven't bought a book since new york which is half a year back! hahahaha... So there i was twiddling my fingers, thinking of what to do today.. should i bake some muffins for tomorrow's breakfast? should i go out for a jog? should i ...? blah blah blah it went on in my head. and what did i do today? hmm.... i procrastinated with the muffins, and the rain stopped me from going out... so i watched the tele. what else? but besides watching some 4 hours of taiwanese nonsensical entertainment shows, 2 movies of which i would highly recommend "Nanny Diaries" to those who would like to have a laugh and cry at the same time, and this new cantonese serial, i answered 2 messages on facebook, a few proper emails on gmail and flipped through an on
