okay, i wasn't quite right in my last post. Heath Ledger died in his own apartment - not Mary-Kate's - and he was 28 years of age - not 26.

this week, i've discovered mould in our closet. as in, i found mould on some of our clothes and the luggage bags stored in the closet. eeks. did some auditing of our wares, pulled out clothes dotted with those wretched white spots to the wash, wiped the luggage bags we were going to use and threw away hao-e's mouldy shoes. Then, i scampered off to the hardware store to buy meself some Damp-Rid kits to hang in the closet. i sure hope those things work, cos they are such a cheapo alternative to the electrical dehumidifier which costs at least $200. i don't want no spots on my clothes ever again!

i've tried keeping to my tiring, back-breaking, ab-crunching, kick-boxing gym schedule. so far, i've been there sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday and yesterday. on wednesday at 4.30pm, i had a very strong inclination not to make that trek over to the gym, for the simple fact that i didn't want to endure the torture of another kick-boxing class. but i blocked out that thought (and all other thoughts in fact), willed my feet to walk and resisted the urge to drive back home. i didn't regret it, cos though it is the most treacherous class of the week, (i always end up with me back, arms, legs everywhere hurting), i enjoyed it best. me am masochistic.

there ain't gonna be any aerobics lesson later this afternoon, but i'll still go try my hand...erm i mean legs at jogging a bit. me am NOT a jogger. i can only do intervals of 2 mins of 5km/hr before i slow the treadmill down to a leisurely 4km/hr walk in between. WEAK! i know i know. as the instructor says "This is not a break! No comfort zone!" i must try to bring it up to 3mins spurts today.

yesterday, i had a mini exchange of views with a man who claims that he knows the chinese calendar better than i do. he says on 7th feb, we'll be in the 4**** year of the lunar calendar. i replied, it depends on the reference point. there's no acknowledged known year where the chinese adopted the calendar, and each emperor tends to name the years of their reign. Even ROC i.e. Taiwan adopts the "min guo" year, when they "separated" from the mainland. so hey, don't blame me - especially since i'm from singapore where no one really bothers to find out why this year is the golden pig read: good, and next year is the i-can't-remember-what-metal rat i.e. bad. i only know this lunar new year, i'll be back with family and friends, eating kueh bangkits and pineapple tarts. ooh... can't wait.

Forgive and Forget

it's been a long time since i've written anything of a serious nature. i try to keep this blog lighthearted but some things have been bugging me lately and i need to ventilate and detox myself. so please bear with me as i spurt and sputter some bad blood. one, because of man A's negligence, my start date has been delayed till further notice. was rather upset about it, not because i was looking forward to what i thought i was about to do, but because once again, my plans have been thwarted by things and people beyond my control. i should have been able to start in july had hao-e's permanent work permit been granted right after his first temporary work permit lapsed. BUT, it didn't happen that way cos hao-e had to settle for a second temporary work permit as they tried to sort out his permanent one. now, with this delay, i'm not sure when i can begin contributing to the "save stella" fund. [C was really cute today as i told her the amount that i ...

Happy Easter!

Busy Easter weekend! Got my screening report from the doctors on Thursday, I have to cut down on sugars, oily food and carbs.... uhoh, nothing about the lumps so i'm grateful. Marc Jacobs bag arrived in the evening, woohoo!   Good Friday was spent in Church and shopping at Sim Lim Square for Hao-e's new PC. Pilates on Saturday morning after a week's break, super out of shape.  think i should probably start doing some exercises at home and maybe go for swim downstairs when i get a chance. Chewy had a good scrubbing session at noon then off to watch Le Noir at Sands Theatre on Saturday afternoon, fun! Cousin-in-law's wedding dinner at Conrad on Saturday evening, no shark's fin which was a bummer. Easter mass on Sunday morning followed by Qingming thingamie at Mt Vernon. Sunday brunch at York Hotel's Penang Hawker Buffet, yum! Watched 1.5 movies too - GI Joe (meh) and SVFV (vulgar).  SVFV was the movie that  was banned and made the h...

The Tudors

I just realised how good looking Jonathon Rhys Meyers is? Gosh, i just love his chiseled face and beautiful eyes. Anyway, so i chanced upon this new series loosely based on THE Henry VIII, second king of the Tudor Dynasty. You guys should watch it if you are as besotted with him and as fascinated with anything royal as i am. hehe.... So i went to find out a bit more about the rather infamous king on wiki and here's some trivia about his eventful life ( i bet, with so many women around him?!) Technically, Henry was only married twice. Four of his marriages were annulled which means they never took place. His court jester was named Will Somers . The only surviving piece of clothing worn by Henry VIII is a cap of maintenance , awarded to the Mayor of Waterford , along with a bearing sword, in 1536 . It currently resides in the Waterford Museum of Treasures . Henry VIII was the first member of the English Royal Family to wear silk stockings.
