Wow, I have now witnessed first hand the resolve and single-mindedness of my FIL. For the benefit of those who aren't familiar with this acronym, FIL = father-in-law, MIL = mother-in-law, and so forth. The story began sometime last year when he first mentioned his interest to change his car. His current vehicle is an 8-year-old vios which he'd bought second hand a couple of years ago. Given the economics of vehicle ownership in Singapore (more on that later) and his children having to account for every cent that is spent from the accounts, we tried to encourage him to stick with his current car till its COE finishes and get another car after it expires.
