Another Monday

It's another Monday morning, except it really isn't just any Monday morning... it's the last Monday before Christmas, we'd just lit all 4 Advent Candles at mass yesterday morning... (psst... i've always thought that the advent candles should be kept lit for 4 weeks till Christmas, but apparently they extinguish them after mass and light them up again every week! flabbergasted.) as i was saying, the candles were lit yesterday signifying Christmas is at hand!!

Christmas on the island = mad-buying, panic-buying and loads of impulse-buying. all of which we didn't succumb to, cos there ain't a lot of people to buy presents for! there were the office gift-exchanges, the bottles of wine for each house party/dinner we went to, the presents for people who have been real nice to us this year....and that's about it. no headaches at all. (there are times when i'm pretty happy to be away from home... and then i think about my parents and sista and i miss home again.)

anyway, i've been boozed up so much this past week, i think my ears are gonna leak alcohol and even a tiny spark could set off a fire. the alcoholic gene in me acts up when i smell even an ounce of alcohol within a 1 mile radius. last thurs party, i slid up to the bartender after 2 pinot grigio's wanting some juice, the really young (not sure whether he's past the legal age, but i don't think it matters on this island) bartender asked me "pure cranberry juice?" in a really incredulous tone. i was about to say "yes, just pour the damn juice" but i didn't. the gene acted up and what came out of my mouth was "add a splash of vodka pls". "just a splash? you won't taste anything." so the gene in me induced me to say "oh, whatever, just pour it in". and there was definitely vodka in that drink, i could taste it, smell it and feel it as it slid down my guts.... pure heaven. and of course i had to have 2 of those. why stop at 1 when you've already fallen off the wagon right? i couldn't drive after that. had to call in my substitute driver - hao-e. i bet there were more than 2 shots of vodka in each drink. i slept like a baby that night. oh bliss.

and we had a wonderful night at M's house on Saturday. i was an angel. i was so sociable that night, i thought i'd float up with wings and die a few hours later like a moth. and of course i helped to clean up 3 bottles of red wine that night. haha. i was a moth with purple lips.... can die lor. woke up next morning still smelling red wine in my breath, and staggered to mass. God must be so upset with me. my only execuse is it's christmas once a year?!

so this week is a super short week cos Christmas and Boxing Day is on thur and fri which means it's a long 4-day weekend!!! laze and daze!!! woohoo! (oh, and if you're commenting, i'm gonna delete anything to the tune of how i'm wasting my life away, it's time to indulge ok!)

The Tudors

I just realised how good looking Jonathon Rhys Meyers is? Gosh, i just love his chiseled face and beautiful eyes. Anyway, so i chanced upon this new series loosely based on THE Henry VIII, second king of the Tudor Dynasty. You guys should watch it if you are as besotted with him and as fascinated with anything royal as i am. hehe.... So i went to find out a bit more about the rather infamous king on wiki and here's some trivia about his eventful life ( i bet, with so many women around him?!) Technically, Henry was only married twice. Four of his marriages were annulled which means they never took place. His court jester was named Will Somers . The only surviving piece of clothing worn by Henry VIII is a cap of maintenance , awarded to the Mayor of Waterford , along with a bearing sword, in 1536 . It currently resides in the Waterford Museum of Treasures . Henry VIII was the first member of the English Royal Family to wear silk stockings.
it's funny how you learn things about yourself - your likes and dislikes - every single day. here's a list of dislikes: eager beavers people who fake an accent people who talk more than they do people who claim credit when they've done nothing (oh! old debts) back-stabbers gossipers (is there such a word?) that stir up trouble like there ain't enough of that already?! inconsiderate people .... more to come, i just know it is it too much to ask to have decent people around? there's a chinese saying, that even on the same hand the fingers are of different lengths. but is it really impossible to have everyone cross a certain threshold of decency and not stick out like a sore thumb? i've often wondered why some 40 year olds act the way they do - as if they hate the whole world. i think i'm in danger of being that sort of 40 year old as the list gets longer, and i meet more obnoxious people. argh. (*_*)

Happy Easter!

Busy Easter weekend! Got my screening report from the doctors on Thursday, I have to cut down on sugars, oily food and carbs.... uhoh, nothing about the lumps so i'm grateful. Marc Jacobs bag arrived in the evening, woohoo!   Good Friday was spent in Church and shopping at Sim Lim Square for Hao-e's new PC. Pilates on Saturday morning after a week's break, super out of shape.  think i should probably start doing some exercises at home and maybe go for swim downstairs when i get a chance. Chewy had a good scrubbing session at noon then off to watch Le Noir at Sands Theatre on Saturday afternoon, fun! Cousin-in-law's wedding dinner at Conrad on Saturday evening, no shark's fin which was a bummer. Easter mass on Sunday morning followed by Qingming thingamie at Mt Vernon. Sunday brunch at York Hotel's Penang Hawker Buffet, yum! Watched 1.5 movies too - GI Joe (meh) and SVFV (vulgar).  SVFV was the movie that  was banned and made the h...
