I finally have some internet access during the day! yay! i was so down yesterday when i couldn't blog, email or read online news at all... so tortured. i still can't read my email, but hey, at least i can blog right?
what's worse for yesterday was the rain. i'm used to walking in the rain. that's what london trains you for. i'm ok with rain beating down on my hood, coats, bags, etc getting wet. no problem. but at least let me walk on nice wide pavements and pathways.
why this sudden mention of rain? it rains pretty often here but i'm usually ok cos i have the car. BUT i'd attempted to take the bus home last evening. golly, by the time i got to the bus-stop, it was drizzling. the bus-stop didn't offer shelter cos the winds were blowing the rain sideways. so i was 30% wet waiting under a sheltered bus-stop that didn't offer any cover. i got up the bus after a 15-min wait, and was disgusted when the rain started to get heavy. got off the bus after 10 mins only to have to wait by the side of the road in the rain for the traffic to give way so that i can cross the road. mind you, it's a single-lane road. there just were too many cars and not enough interval between them for me to dash across. what's more, drainage is poor. so there is water everywhere. i thanked God i was wearing boots yesterday, or i'd have really soggy shoes. cos i was stepping into puddles on the side of the road. no way of avoiding them unless i walked into traffic! going up the slope to the supermarket wasn't at all good, cos water was gushing down. by this time i was 50% soaked. decided to stop at the supermarket to get dinner and hope that the rain eases up. no such luck. so i was trudging back home with a bag of groceries trying to avoid puddles. 60% wet by the time i stepped through the door. yikes.
i vow not to take the bus again when it rains. it's just too trying...

This post kinda reminds me of the one you wrote about collecting your laundry a while back. It's moments like these when you wonder if it's just bad karma from all that bitching about other people and making fun of their hair/fashion etc that's coming back to bite you in the behind. - Jo
