it has been a nightmare driving to the gym these days - everyone's out mad-shopping for the holidays. i had to circle around the gym like 6-7 times on wed before i found one pathetic parallel parking lot. that sucks lor. the feeling of suckiness was further compounded when i found to my utter (gasp!) horror that my fav instructor was off-island visiting his mother. aww... i just paid for my new aerobics card, got into my car and drove home. how pathetic is that?!
so recession hasn't really hit the islanders much. everyone's still buying buying buying. unlike our "cousins" in US (yeah, i wonder why they're cousins, maybe because it's still afterall a british overseas territory).
so last night, as i contemplated whether i should foray into town and risk circling round the gym like a headless chicken hunting for a meagre parking lot, i decided to stay home and make full use of the wii.
do you remember those bengs at the arcade hogging those machines with 4 lit arrows called "Dance Dance Revolution"? hahaha, you'd be pleased to know that an huay is alive and kicking in bermuda. we'd bought the game in boston and i probably played it 3 times in total.... last night, i stomped and waved my nunchucks to my heart's delight in the warmth of my living room. for 2 hours.... pause for intake of breath... yeah, 2 hours. for 120 mins, i huffed and puffed and tried to keep up with the machine that kept screaming "perfect!", "good", "show them what you've got", blah blah... wow, by the end of the night, the wii was my newfound friend and gym buddy, my calves were killing me from all that stomping and hopping, and i was sweating like nobody's business. it wasn't a perfect cardio workout cos you had to stop every 60seconds for it to change songs, but hey! it's a good deal that i don't have to brave the cold and the irate crowds in town!!!
