Since my almost crippling back injury last October, i've had to throw away my gym membership, bag and shoes and even ballet... Even after 3 months of intense physiotherapy, i was discharged with a "no high impact activities" advice from the physio. I was mobile but my core was weak. So to strengthen my core, i had signed up for pilates class last Winter which i'm proud to say, i've been going to quite religiously at 9:30am every Saturday. Yep, 9:30am on Saturdays. Regardless of the previous night's activities. haha, i've impressed moi-self as well. I haven't missed a class, save for the 2 weeks we spent in Singapore.
The thing is, my instructor is really good, not just because of his looks, but he's really quite humorous and knowledgeable which makes the hour pass quite enjoyably, despite the times when he tortures us with 100 repetitions of something or other. i'm still a newbie at pilates, so other than "rolling like a ball" i cannot tell you the names of the exercises we do. i can tell you they look darn easy but to do them yourself is a whole different matter. but it is all very interesting and new, and i'm looking forward to getting better at it and a new term starting this Saturday. Maybe one day, i'd be good enough to be a pilates instructor myself! (maybe 10 years from now when i'm retired)
