I use Amazon on a regular basis to bring in my thermacare belts for my lower back. As an avid online shopper, I buy a lot stuff online amazon, qoo10, etc. Imagine my excitement when Amazon decided to open a distribution centre locally? No more shipping to a PO box in US! No more worrying about buying over US$125 to get free shipping to Singapore! Wow! And holy smokes, 2-hour deliveries! I just had to try it out.
So I downloaded the app, (yes, you heard right, you can't order using the regular amazon website on your pc/laptop. You have to use the prime now app, not even the regular amazon app...) and browsed through the range. Hmm... that's sort of disappointing... I mean it's nice to have groceries delivered in 2 hours, especially if you decide on the spur of the moment to have a party at home or something, but the products available were certainly limited.
I have since ordered from amazon prime now 3 times in the last week. Their deliveries come in brown bags (brings back memories of picking up groceries in the states...) and cold bags within brown bags. Each cold bag had 4 reusable ice-packs (my mum loves those and gives them away to her friends). Quality of groceries is very good, in fact, may be a tad fresher than redmart. They have only managed to screw up the last delivery by forgetting one item. Customer service/recovery was very quick to refund the amount I'd paid for the item.
If you ask me though, I wouldn't completely give up on redmart, not just because of the broader range of products, but because having 2 reliable suppliers is better for me as a consumer. Sorry redmart, but part of your business will be heading Amazon's way for now, until they start charging me membership fees anyway...
